Crackdown on Terror Networks

Jammu & Kashmir J&K Police have intensified operations against suspected terror networks across multiple districts. Preventive raids were carried out, multiple suspects detained, and properties linked to terror associates were searched.

  • Major Explosion at Nowgam Police Station

    • On 14 November 2025, a massive accidental blast occurred at the Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar while teams were inspecting ~300 kg of seized explosive materials Jammu & Kashmir

  • Three Major Bills Cleared by J&K Cabinet
    • The J&K government approved three significant bills for the 2025 assembly session:

      1. Amendment to the Jammu & Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989

      2. Amendment to the J&K Goods & Services Tax (GST) Act, 2017 to align with national tax norms.

      3. A new Shops & Business Establishment Bill, 2025 to regulate work conditions, business operations, and labor rights.

    • These changes are aimed at modernizing local governance, improving business ease, and attracting investment.

    • Additional approvals: e-auction of limestone mineral blocks; a sewerage scheme worth ₹45.8 cr for Gulmarg.

  • Development Surge Since Article 370 Abrogation

    • Six years after Article 370 was revoked, J&K is seeing significant infrastructure and economic development, according to government reports.

    • Startup ecosystem: Nearly 988 ventures launched under a renewed entrepreneurship push; incubators at IIT-Jammu, IIM-Jammu, and NIT-Srinagar

      • There is ongoing demand for restoration of statehood. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has said that statehood “will be restored in due course.

      • The Darbar Move, a tradition where government offices shift between Jammu and Srinagar, was reinstated in 2025.

      • 4. Economy & Development

        • According to a 2025 economic survey: J&K’s nominal GSDP is projected to grow strongly; investments have surged.

        • The government’s 2025–26 budget aims to strengthen rural infrastructure, housing, and employment.

        • Key economic sectors: horticulture, tourism, handicrafts, and agriculture are very important for J&K’s economy
